Northern wild rice is the official state grain of Minnesota.  With a rugged and earthy taste, with more character than its soft, domesticated counterpart. Wild rice has a nutty tea-like flavor, and a texture that pushes back when you chew.  Glen's carries a variety of wild rice, from Canadian airboat harvested, to wood parched and hand harvested.  

While all the wild rice we carry is the genuine article.  Hand harvested wild rice is the most sustainable, and most expensive, way of collecting the rice.  When harvested by hand the ricing sticks will knock rice of into the canoe to parching, while allowing some rice to fall into the soft bottom to return next season.
