Catch Cover 12 Volt Fish House Ceiling Fan
- Product Review (submitted on December 23, 2013):
When I got the fan I had to laugh when I saw the box. Being I am an electrician I have installed 1000's of fans. BUT when I saw this one the box wasn't much bigger than a brick. A RED BRICK!! I was surprised when I turned it on though this thing really moves some serious air. For being as small as it is I was very satisfied HOWEVER..... THIS is Catch Covers "Motto" Original Catch Cover Products are made in Minnesota; giving hands-on quality control and minimizing transport costs. Imitation products made in China boast they cost a few bucks less than Original Catch Covers… they do cost less, until you have to replace them! Original Catch Covers are an investment in quality over the life of your fish house, saving you money in the years ahead. Don’t be fooled by imitations. You will never be forced to replace Original Catch Covers, and Catch Cover will never have to apologize for American made quality.
This fan had no signs of anything to do with Catch Cover on it. In fact, the only markings on it at all appeared to be a..... wait for it..... a Chinese name!!
BUT I must admit, Made in Minnesota or Hashimota it still works great. Especially for the price. I only gave the quality 3 stars because I didn't like the idea of it hanging by the wire on a hook so I removed the top cap and the wire, made a nice 6 inch octagon out of pine then I bought some longer screws the same size threads and drilled the octagon in the center for the wires then for the screws. Stacked some 1/4" fender washers on top of the fan with the wires sticking through them ( to keep the shaft of the fan from pushing up into the canopy) screwed the fan to the wood and screwed the wood to the ceiling of my fishouse. I had wired it for a fan when I built it so all the wires are concealed in the ceiling and splices are under the octagon. Now the fan is flush mounted on my ceiling much like the ones in your home.
